Thirty-five minutes out of Chicago, the Burlington's Denver Zephyr slams through Eola at 79 mph. It's business as usual today for the pair of E7s leading the train. However, two weeks after this photo was taken, Amtrak took over all passenger train operations. The Zephyr survived, but the E7s were sidelined and scrapped. Sadly, none of these silver ladies was saved.
