| The Soledad Local passes under Elkhorn Road in the early morning light. I'd pulled into Watsonville Junction for the first time in my life only to hear this train get the highball. I took off with no idea if there were any shots available, or where I was going. Saw this angle and stopped. My car was still running when I pressed the shutter... luckily I'd remembered to put it into Park. UP 2586 is a "GP38-2" built from a GP40 by Boise Locomotive (now MPI). Originally Rio Grand #3153 in October of 1968, it was rebuilt in November of 1998. |
