| Drama had been building for a few minutes as I could hear the sound of laboring Geeps echoing through the remote canyon that the STMA's ex-Milwaukee Bovill Branch twists through between Lotus and Mashburn. The imminent arrival of the Clarkia Logger returning to St. Maries with 50 loads of logs was indicated by puffs of exhaust rising amongst the towering trees. Finally, with a roar that shattered the stillness of the forest, STMA 101 and 103 announced their presence as they crossed their namesake river for the last time on this late summer afternoon's run. |
