A working roster shot of one of the new ES44C4s. the cylinders in the middle of the truck is what GE calls "Dynamic Weight Management." The center axle doesn't have a traction motor. These cylinders will engage below 15 mph to lift the center axle as much as an inch and a half to concentrate more weght on the other two axles. The locomotives seem to handle just fine on the 2.2% grade. |
