Remarks & Notes |
CNW 4242, 4255 work west with local freight near McFarland. Often times in the late winter/early spring ore movements would slow while CNW and the mines made needed repairs. Also the stock pile at Escanaba would grow to epic proportions around that time due to few/no lake boats operating due to heavy ice. CNW often used this time to store/repair C628's that had been battered with 11 months of heavy ore service. Traffic on the line to Empire Mine at that time would slow to a trickle and just about three times a week a local would be called to move the general freight and mine supplies from Escanaba to Eagle Mills. During the spring lull this local has been assigned a pair of 4 axles that were running out their last miles. |
