Remarks & Notes |
One of the last 2 D&H lightning stripe units rolls NB past the historic D&H Building in downtown Albany. DH 7304 has an 8 car local with a shoving platform and has just departed Kenwood Yard to work Surpass Chemical and Global Propane on its way to Colonie Yard. The original D&H Building was completed in 1915 and served as headquarters for the Delaware & Hudson Railway until the late 1970's. The whole section south (left) of the main tower was built as an add on and completed in 1918. The far south tower was built to house the Albany Evening Journal. The tracks are surrounded by the NB and SB lanes of I-787 and because the tracks are contained in a concrete walled trench this section of track is known as the Concrete Canyon. |
