| A southbound unit tank train comes to a stop a few miles before Palmer Lake due to an opposing northbound lined through the single track section there. Stopping here at the transition area between the BNSF and UP mainlines will help the train get its heavy loaded up and over the 7,237-ft summit at Palmer Lake since it can use the momentum from coming down the incline here at Spruce to help push the train up the 1.42% grade to Palmer Lake. |
