Norfolk Southern's Andrews Yard in Columbia, South Carolina, was in the center of the path of totality for the total solar eclipse on August 21, 2017. NS 7697, a GE ES40DC, was in between assignments as the moon passed between the Earth and the Sun. Using Alien Bee flashes to illuminate the locomotive and a Neutral Density 2000 filter to show the sun during its post-totality eclipse phase, we can view the celestial event in one image.
