| Ten years ago this morning I got my first look at the first of the class 395 140mph hi-speed EMUs to be delivered from Japan by Hitachi. At this stage the unit was undertaking night time test running on HS1 and it was to be two years before all 29 units had been delivered and passenger service had commenced. |
