Uintah Railway Lives
Okay, Soooo it is not the Uintah Railway. However the former Baldwin logging 2-6-6-2 climbing a 6% grade is as close as you can get to experiencing a Uintah Mallet. These Baldwins are are very close in size and dimensions to Uintah's Narrow Gauge Mallets that climbed 7% grades in Colorado. Uintahs mallets were also built by Baldwin sand were slightly heavier with more Tractive effort. URY's Mallets also had distinctive square water tanks... It is quite impressive watching these articulateds climb the 6% grades of the exCB&Q Keystone Branch. |
