One Rail, Two Wires.
A Snaefell Mountain Railway employee is seen throwing the single-point switch at Snaefell Summit to prepare for the down hill departure of vestibuled saloon 2. Interestingly the single track at the summit of the mountain has two overhead wires, one from each track prior to the merge. Presumably this is easier than installing the necessary appurtenances to reduce down to one wire, especially since the wire on the mountain is taken down every winter to prevent frost damage. |
