Manual shunting in Furka DFB at 2160 meters above sea level. The beautifully restored covered goods wagon K # 406, which was built by Buire/Lyon/France in 1914 for the former Brig-Furka-Disentis Railway (B.F.D.) and also has the designation X # 2916 (service wagon), was used during the summer as a materials store for the restaurant up here. Now, on the last day of the season, it is pushed from the stub track onto the turntable so that the steamlocomotive HG 2/3 # 6 can pick it up and place it on track 1 for loading material to be transported down into the valley. The wagon came to the DFB in 1988 from the Blonay-Chamby Museum Railway, where it had survived after being used on the Furka-Oberalp Railway. The brake cogwheel is clearly visible in the photo.
