Fall Foliage Meet. During the last weekend of strong fall foliage color on Sunday, November 3, 2024, MTA Metro-North Railroad Train 2851 with 230 (New Haven/PC) met Train 4144 with 214 (40th Anniversary/Employee Appreciation) near Oscawana Island in Croton-On-Hudson, New York. Ironically, these two locomotives represent the newest (MNCW 214) and oldest (MNCW 230) 'special interest' locomotive designs on the MNR roster. The Hudson Valley in New York State is one of the great places to enjoy the trees changing color change in the northeast, and the trains have been very crowded during recent weekends.
With three lines radiating north out of Grand Central Terminal plus service to Port Jervis on the former Erie, Metro North covers a wide swatch of New York's northern suburbs with varying terrains.
