Based on the mid-day looking sun, this Conrail SERU7 was running a bit later than usual. SERU was a Selkirk NY to Rutherford PA (Albany to Harrisburg) manifest that went capital city to capital city. It was a true Conrail train, traversing former New York Central (here on the West Shore), Pennsylvania RR, Lehigh Valley, Jersey Central, and Reading routes. (Note, for the railfan-correction crew, I'm well aware that the NYC and PRR were later Penn Central and that the Jersey Central trackage in Pennsylvania that this train used had been turned over to the Lehigh Valley prior to becoming Conrail,) At the time I took this, a Conrail blue U36C leader like CR 6594 was really nothing special.
