After a snowfall of a few inches, New York City was a Winter Wonderland … A very cold Winter Wonderland! (15º F, -3º C) So, I headed out into the cold to railfan!
I eventually ended up at one of my favorite spots in the city, and the MTA subway station with the highest elevation from the terra firma underneath: the Smith-9th Streets Station in Brooklyn’s Park Slope neighborhood, with a great view across the East River of lower Manhattan (including the Freedom Tower (which replaced the destroyed World Trade Center's Twin-Towers) … and one can also see the Statue of Liberty from here as well (but I've yet to determine a way to include it in the photo).
Having just emerged from its underground run and approaching the station is an westbound/southbound MTA F Train (Queens Boulevard Express/Sixth Avenue Local), led by R160B 9088, heading to Coney Island–Stillwell Avenue from Jamaica–179th Street. (Brooklyn, New York – January 20, 2025)
