MTA NYCT Subway R-211A Delivery In The Street. On the morning of February 13, 2025, Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) NYCT Subway transported 5 brand new R-211As (NYCT 4435-4439), the newest model of subway car. The cars were delivered by truck in previous days to the South Brooklyn Marine Terminal in Brooklyn, New York to an area normally used by NYNJ Rail to pick up cars from Sims Metal Management. The cars were then shoved onto 1st Avenue at 39 Street by a Shuttlewagon SWXe-50 Compact Electric Railcar Mover. Finally, they were brought by diesel to the subway system via the South Brooklyn Railroad to MTA NYCT Subway Coney Island Maintenance And Overhaul Shop for final preparation before entering service. The most unusual part of this move was use of MPI MP8AC-3/R-156 diesels, which are not normally used on the South Brooklyn Railway.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
