A quartet of BNSF Railway General Electric diesels bring an intermodal train down Cajon Pass. Nothing unusual about that. But snow had fallen in the Pass’ higher elevations, and that’s always worth a trip to the mountains, even for the usual GE-powered intermodal trains!
BNSF Phoenix AZ to Los Angeles CA baretable train B-PHXLAC4-23, with ET44C4 3815, AC4400CW 5703, ES44C4 4207 and ET44C4 3855 for power, threads its way through the S-curve at Mormon Rocks in the heart of Cajon Pass on a winter's day, in which the snow almost got low enough to fall on the Cajon Sub. (AC4400CWs on the BNSF this far west are not all that common.) And, yes, this is a baretable train! Keep in my that not all baretables are cars with no loads, as often the containers or trailers are empty and being repositioned. (Cajon Pass, California – January 21, 2021)
