The Train to the Game.
On Friday, April 4, 2025 the NY Transit Museum operated a special "Train to the Game" service for the Mets Home Opener at Citi Field, using a whopping eight "Redbird" cars from the 1960s! The train is seen here crossing Flushing Creek as it nears the last stop on the line; Flushing-Main Street Station. This location had long afforded a view of the trains with Citi Field, but gentrification of the Willets Point neighborhood - formerly an industrial area with a population of 10 residents - is progressing at a steady pace and soon residential blocks will obscure any view of the stadium and any bits of skyline remaining.
