After sitting on Track 1 at the Metrolink station for an hour, BNSF train F-T216-1-07T, consisting of a pair of locomotives (BNSF 5159 up front, and ET44C4 3740 on the rear) with just one car between them: US Department of Transportation/Federal Railroad Administration High Speed Research Vehicle DOTX 216, finally got the clear signal to depart northward (railroad “west”) onto Metrolink’s Olive Sub at Control Point Maple … and it stopped again less than a mile later in order to meet Metrolink train 819, an Inland Empire-Orange County Line train heading from Riverside-Downtown to Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo.
