Having departed Los Angeles 30 minutes earlier, Amtrak Pacific Surfliner 564 arrives in Fullerton. California Department of Transportation (CDTX) SC-44 "Charger" 2118 leads this six-car train, which is heading to San Diego. Beginning Monday, April 28, 2025, the old Santa Fe Surf Line (Santa Fe's Fourth District) will be closed to allow a window for emergency repairs to the line through San Clemente. The cliffs adjacent to the rail line there have become unstable, and work to correct this may last into early June. Amtrak trains will terminate in Irvine, with passengers bused to Oceanside to continue their journeys to San Diego County's stations, while Metrolink trains will operate as far as Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo, with no bus service planned beyond there.
