Remarks & Notes |
When the WC first started operations only two trains a day made the Gladstone-Sault Ste. Marie trip and they were often fairly short. Service started with trains 11 and 12 in a hold over from the Lake States/Soo era. In a nod to the past WC soon renumbered the Soo-Gladstone trains 34 and 35, which had been the numbers Soo had assigned these trains back in the early 70's. With the ACR take over and the advent of Ladysmith and Tilden ore moving over this route a couple more trains were added to handle the increased business. One of the new jobs was train 134 which departed Sault Ste. Marie fairly early in the morning with the freight off the ACR southbound into Sault Ste. Marie. This is 134 whipping through the snow at Garnet with 52 cars off the ACR powered by 3017 and 586. |
