Remarks & Notes
A SY chugs past the setting sun after a hard days work hauling slag from the massive Baotou Steel Mill. The setting sun was a potent metaphor for the future of this locomotive and her sister SY 2-8-2's as within mere months, they would be replaced by diesels and reduced to the molten steel that they once hauled.

Landscape photography is difficult due to the challenge of combining good light and good scenery. Good railroad photography enters another level of complexity since it requires the first two while there is a train in view.
