Remarks & Notes
Cogwheel locomotive He 2/2 # 11 of the Schynige Platte Bahn (SPB) is running down as train 638 from the Schynige Platte to Wilderswil, above Breitlauenen. The locomotive was built in 1914 by SLM and BBC for the SPB and is nowadays the only operating original SPB-locomotive. When travelling downhill, the SPB locomotives have the pantograph lowered to minimize wear on the contact strips and contact wire. The heat from the resistors of the electric brake is released into the mountain air. Cab windows and doors are open for better heat dissipation. Car B # 8 dates from 1929, care B # 6 from 1894, and the small freight car OM # 72 from 1893, when the railway was inaugurated.
