The track of the Furka Bergstrecke steam railroad, equipped with a double-lamellar Abt rack, climbs from Tiefenbach DFB station over a distance of 3.3 kilometers at an even gradient of 11.0 %. The small steam extra train for Maertens Reisen with the HG 2/3 # 6, built in 1902, has now covered about half the distance and still needs about 5 minutes to reach the photographer's location, just below Furka DFB, which lies at 2160 meters above sea level. The Furka Pass road, with the few houses of Tiefenbach, runs several hundred meters higher than the railroad track.
