Remarks & Notes
Winter Work at Woodside. Long Island Rail Road alcohol train ALQ1 is seen dipping between the overhead bridges in the Woodside neighborhood of Queens as it makes its way to Sunnyside Yard from Port Washington. The train is one of a handful used by the rail road during wintery weather to apply an alcohol solution to the third rail in order to prevent ice buildup that can lead to arcing, and is made up of MP15AC locomotives 168 and 171 bookending modified M3 car E901.
