The Iowa Northern's North Crew is southbound at Rockford. They pass the classic Rock Island depot with the old-school ex-BN GP9 leader. The IANR used these ex-BN for a while until they got their GP20s in the late 90s.
According to the Internet...1886, GP9, was built by EMD in July 1956 as Northern Pacific #263. It became Burlington Northern #1886, Class GP-9, in 1970 and retired in July 1983. It was sold to Azcon Corp. in August 1983 and sold as IANR 1886.
