Wow what a shocking picture that brings one to reality about the change in railroading!

That is such an awesome photo. I wonder, how many more years the will Bayshore Roundhouse be standing?

Very nice shot, Arne. Thanks for getting this unique view. As for the roundhouse, the whole yard area is slated for re-development and several alternatives plan to make the roundhouse a centerpiece of a new community.

That is surprising that it's still standing. I was fortunate to have visited and worked in a few roundhouses before they were torn down. NP's South Tacoma, Centralia, and Seattle (Horton St), and Pasco (all in Washington) are gone now. GN's Interbay Roundhouse still stands in Seattle, but it's remodeled and has aluminum siding! A little known jewel is the Simpson Timber Co. in Shelton, Wa. It's still complete with armstrong turntable.

The last time I was at this locale 25 years ago, this was a thriving SP yard. My how times change.

It's even better on the second viewing, many months later.

I'm so happy that the roundhouse by my house is still in operation today, including the turn table.
