Wow! I've never seen a photo of a train on this bridge, one of several such trestles on this former railroad. The Burr Canyon Trestle was constructed in 1908 by the Spokane, Portland and Seattle Railway (SP&S), which completed this line between Portland and Spokane in 1909. The SP&S became part of the Burlinton Northern Railroad (BN) in 1970 and this line was abandoned in 1987. The Washington State Parks acquired the right of way in 1991 and established the Columbia Plateau Trail State Park along the route. The bridge, around 1000' long is currently closed to all use. One of the trestles on the route is said to be nearly 200' high but I could not find any detailed information on the other trestles.
