Sunday july 18 2021 UP suspends eastbound container trains to Chicago from the west coast ports because of backlog of containers and truck chassis. This is supposed to last for a week. This will affect LA an LB an also Oakland an Tacoma. Its funny but now they want even bigger ships to drop more cargo at the ports and flood the already backlog supply chain. And while some perfectly good piers are being disused for possible maybe cruise terminals that are in standby mode until july 18 and then we will see if they keep on running for the current situation. Talking about Pier 46 in SEATTLE a perfect year round container terminal verses a 5 month couple of days a week ship stop for loading and discharging of passengers and groceries. What a waste of a great deep water pier that was pretty busy until Hanjin went bankrupt few years ago. And the best sunsets while you waited for your ship or ships to slide into the correct position assisted by those cool tugs and then the linemen secure them to the bullocks on the pier. 536 trucks off the roads be cause of one train and a lot of manpower eliminated along with pollution to. Headed WB probably a lot of mty's headed back overseas to fill up again. Most EB trains are loads and alot heavier an shorter. Thx Allen.
