Can't help but wonder how an engineer in a Charger would have fared out in this same impact. (Just sayin)

Jeff, the engineer would've been just fine, if not better. Chargers are built to meet better crash standards than P42s. There have been several, more serious incidents than this (2017 Amtrak Cascades wreck, 2020 California Zephyr cement truck strike to name a couple) involving Chargers and the engineers were better protected than this. The P42 in the photo was barely operable. That sideways light-colored piece in the open windshield is the cab desk.
